Fact sheets
Social Vulnerability Index fact sheet (SVI)
The CDC/ATSDR Social Vulnerability Index is a place-based index, database, and mapping application designed to identify and characterize communities experiencing social vulnerability. The Geospatial Research, Analysis & Services Program (GRASP) maintains the CDC/ATSDR SVI to help scientists, officials, and planners prepare for and respond to public health emergencies of all types.
Environmental Justice Index fact sheet (EJI)
The Environmental Justice Index (EJI) is the first national, place-based tool designed to measure the cumulative impacts of environmental burden through the lens of human health and health equity.
The EJI delivers a single rank for each community to identify and map areas most at risk for the health impacts of environmental burden. Social factors such as poverty, race, and ethnicity, along with pre-existing health conditions may increase these impacts. This tool helps public health officials prioritize action for those communities most in need.
Heat and Health Index fact sheet (HHI)
The Heat and Health Index (HHI) helps identify communities where people are most likely to feel the effects of heat on their health, in order to build towards a healthier and more heat-resilient future for all.
